5.1 Installation
This section provides information for installing with or without (manual) the MapRInstaller, installing patches, upgrading, and migrating.

  The MapR Installer makes the installation of a MapR cluster easy. It installs MapR software after it takes you through the process of selecting services and configuring the cluster.

  MapR patches are version-specific and cumulative. Each patch contains the code fixes that were included in the previous patch for that MapR version.

Pre-Upgrade Steps for Storm

About this task

First, you stop the currently running topology so you can submit a new topology under the same name after the upgrade compeltes. Next, you back up configuration files if you made configuration changes that you want to carry over to the next version.

Procedure

Stop the currently running topology.
storm kill <topology-name>
Copy the files in /opt/mapr/storm/storm-<version>/conf/ to a location outside the MapR installation.
After upgrading, you can reapply changes to the updated Storm installation using the backup.
