5.1 Installation
This section provides information for installing with or without (manual) the MapRInstaller, installing patches, upgrading, and migrating.

  The MapR Installer makes the installation of a MapR cluster easy. It installs MapR software after it takes you through the process of selecting services and configuring the cluster.

Pre-Upgrade Steps for Drill

About this task

If you have advanced configurations for Drill, you need to create a backup of storage plugins and configuration files if you made configuration changes that you want to carry over to the next version.

Procedure

Start the Web Console. The Drill node that you use to access the Web Console must be a node that is currently running the Drillbit process.
Click Storage.
Click Update next to a storage plugin.
Copy the configuration to a text file, and save the file.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each storage plugin configuration that you want to save.
Navigate to /opt/mapr/drill/drill-<version>/conf, and copy drill-override.conf and drill-env.sh to a location outside of the MapR installation directory
After upgrading, you can reapply changes to the updated Drill installation using the backup.
