5.1 Installation
This section provides information for installing with or without (manual) the MapRInstaller, installing patches, upgrading, and migrating.

About this task

You need to back up configuration files if you made configuration changes that you want to carry over to the next version.

To back up configuration files, copy the files in /opt/mapr/mahout/mahout-<version>/conf/ to a location outside the MapR installation. After upgrading, you can reapply changes to the updated Mahout installation using the backup.
