      A row key identifies a row in a MapR-DB binary table.

      Scanning an entire table for matches can be very performance-intensive. Column families enable you to group related sets of data and restrict queries to a defined subset, leading to better performance.       - Configuring MapR Clusters for Table Replication
        Configuring clusters for participation in replication topologies involves configuring two or more gateways on destination clusters and, if the clusters are secure, setting up secure communications between the clusters.

        In this topology, you replicate one way from source tables to replicas. The replicas can be in a remote cluster or in the cluster where the source tables are located.

Multi-master replication

In this configuration, two clusters have identical copies of a table. Applications can change any copy of the table, and MapR-DB replicates the changes to the other copy.

In this schematic diagram, there are two clusters: sanfrancisco and newyork. The table customers is updated on the sanfrancisco cluster by client applications on that cluster, and the same table is updated on the newyork cluster by client applications on that cluster. Updates made in either cluster are replicated to the other cluster.
